After facing defeat in Haryana and Maharashtra, Congress' Rahul Gandhi congratulates BJP

Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday congratulated Bharatiya Janata Party for its success in Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly Election results.

New Delhi: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Sunday congratulated Bharatiya Janata Party for its success in Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly Election results.

Accepting the verdict of people, Gandhi underlined that people have voted for change after 15 years of Congress government in Maharashtra and 10 years in Haryana.

Congress will work hard on the ground to once again earn people's confidence, said Gandhi, after his party faced a rout in the Assembly Elections in both the states.

He further thanked his party's supporters for having stood by Congress and workers for their commitment.

Taking responsibility for Congress' rout in Maharashtra polls, former chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said the party's performance was "disappointing" though it did recover some ground since Lok Sabha polls.

Maharashtra has been a traditional Congress bastion ruled by the party or its offshoots for over 62 years since 1947.
