Srinagar: Hours after Air India declared that the national carrier will serve proper hot vegetarian meals in economy class on domestic sector flights with duration of 60 to 90 minutes from 1st, January 2016, former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday questioned the decision.

Omar re-tweeted reports that only vegetarian meals will be served in economy class in domestic flights of duration between an hour and 90 minutes.
As the row grabbed eye-balls, Air India clarified that it had not decided to discontinue non-vegetarian meals aboard its domestic flights of 60 to 90 minutes flying duration; rather it never served it for that duration.
Air India further clarified that it is only upgrading the current cold vegetarian snacks to proper hot vegetarian meals.
However, the statement kicked up a major row online drawing criticism from numerous people across the nation who thought Air India was discontinuing non-vegetarian meals.
"There will be a review after obtaining passengers' feedback. On flights exceeding 90 minutes, the present choice of vegetarian and non vegetarian meals will continue," the airline added.
