On the completion of one year of Narendra Modi's NDA government on Tuesday, BJP president Amit Shah today said that the party does not have the majority to implement its core issues like Ram Temple and Article 370.

New Delhi: On the completion of one year of Narendra Modi's NDA government on Tuesday, BJP president Amit Shah today said that the party does not have the majority to implement its core issues like Ram Temple and Article 370.

The senior BJP leader said that the party requires 370 MPs, two-third majority, to implement them. 

Speaking about the one-year tenure of the NDA government, he said that the government has brought the country out of policy paralysis.

“The government has come out of policy paralysis. If there is a problem, then the government proactively, if required, makes changes in policies,” he said while addressing media at the BJP headquarters in the national capital.

Shah added that after Narendra Modi became prime minister, he has restored the credibility of the PMO.

“The country did not have faith in the previous government. The trust deficit is over now. Now, the world is acknowledging and watching India's progress.”

He said that the NDA government is a visible government and is more “proactive” than even the media. Whether there are floods in Jammu and Kashmir or earthquake in Nepal, the government is quick to respond, he added.

On the issue of tussle between the Delhi government and Centre, the party president added that the 'so called' clash between relates to interpretation of Constitution and the issue will be settled by courts.

Speaking about the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Shah said, “After 30 years, for the first time after Independence, a non-Congress government was elected with majority by the people.”

Talking about corruption scandals and scams surfacing during the tenure of the previous governments, Shah said, “In one year, even our opposition have not been able to allege corruption charges against the present government.”

He added that the over Rs 2 lakh crore have been added to the government's treasury by transparent auction of the coal mines.

On the issue of black money, Shah said that the Modi government is determined to tackle the issue of black money.

“Congress ministers levelled several allegations against the BJP and even asked them to reveal names of those with bank accounts abroad. Under international treaty, the Indian government cannot reveal the names of people with accounts abroad as it would be a violation and then we will not get information on names of such people.”

Shah said that during elections, Modi had said that the government will work for the poor people. “In one year, BJP government has worked towards it. Earlier, 60 crore people never had a bank account. Now, 15 crore of them have bank accounts. This is their connect with economic system.”

Talking about upcoming Bihar Assembly polls, Shah said that Bharatiya Jana Party will form government in the state and discussions are going on.

The BJP leader said that through 'Make in India' and skill development, the government has tried to create job opportunities for the youth.

“In the infrastructure sector, the speed of road construction has increased to 10 km per day compared to 5 km per day during UPA's rule,” he added. 

He said that the government has worked towards strengthening the federal structure on India and added that FDI investment have increased and price rise has been brought under control.

He said that the fiscal deficit is under control, trade has grown, foreign exchange reserves were at their highest in 10 years and prices have been brought under control.

"When Congress comes to power, growth decreases, when BJP comes to power, it increases," he said.

Shah said that for the first time, a Prime Minister has put forth the thought of 'Team India' where Centre and states are part of the team.

The BJP chief said, "we have united the security agencies and strengthened internal security of the country".

Noting that 10-km road was being built now per day against 5 km per day during the UPA rule, he said Modi government had given a special push to infrastructure. He said power production had gone up and that it was on course to provide electricity to all villages by 2019.

On the occasion, he also launched a booklet listing the government's achievements, which have been brought out in 12 languages.
