United Nations: Amid simmering tension between India and Pakistan over repeated ceasefire violations by the latter, United Nations has asked the two countries to resolve all issues diplomatically through meaningful dialogue.
According to reports, UN chief Ban Ki-moon has urged both India and Pakistan to resolve the border row with amicably through diplomatic channels.
The UN chief has also expressed grave concerns over the rising tension between the two sides.
The appeal from the UN chief came in the wake of major ceasefire violations by the Pakistani troops along the international border targeting forward Indian posts and its unprovoked shelling on several villages.
Importantly, talks between between Army officials of the two sides have failed to resolve the issue.
On October 6, Pakistan had violated the ceasefire thrice in Bhimber Gali, Kerni and Balakote-Mankote in Poonch district of Jammu region.
On October 5, there were two ceasefire violations in the Arnia belt along International Border in Jammu in which five persons were killed and 34 others were injured. There was another ceasefire violation during the day when Pakistani troops targeted forward India posts along the LoC in Balnoie sub-sector of Poonch district.
On October 4, Pakistani troops had resorted to heavy firing and mortar shelling along the LoC in Poonch district, drawing retaliation from the Army.
On October 1 and 2, Pakistani troops had violated the ceasefire twice along the LoC in Poonch district resulting in injuries to six persons.
