Chandigarh: BJP vice-president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday attacked Congress saying during ten years of UPA rule at the Centre, the party "created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity and kept Muslims away from progress".

Speaking at a poll rally at Sadhaura on the last day of campaigning for the October 15 Haryana polls, Naqvi said, "Whatever remains of those who had been exploiting Muslims for political gains, that too will end after the Wednesday's polls in the two Congress-ruled states."

"There is a big difference in the thinking of the previous Congress-led government and the present Narendra Modi government towards the Indian Muslims," Naqvi said.

"During the past ten years, Congress created an atmosphere of fear and insecurity and kept Muslims miles away from progress," he alleged.

"We will strive for good governance, transparency, prosperity and security and make Muslims equal partner in the country's progress," he said.

"Those who have been doing their politics in the name of caste, creed and religion, their shops are about to be shut as people have rejected such forces," he said.

"After the formation of Narendra Modi government at the Centre, there is a new ray of hope among the country's economically, socially and educationally backward sections, of which Muslims constitute a large part, that the Centre will lead them to the path of development."
