New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi was on Friday discharged from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital (SGRH).

 

"Sonia Gandhi who was re-admitted on 17th August 2016 for a pre-planned evaluation and a minor procedure to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has been discharged from the hospital in stable condition today," a hospital statement said. 

According to SP Byotra, vice chairman (Board of Management), Ganga Ram Hospital, the minor medical procedure was performed successfully on Gandhi and she is showing good signs of recovery.

"She has been advised rest, rehabilitation, and further treatment," said the statement.

Though authorities had earlier termed it a routine check up, hospital sources had told IANS that Gandhi was not keeping well ever since her discharge on August 14.

Gandhi was admitted to SGRH on August 3 afternoon after she fell ill during a rally in Varanasi. She was at SGRH for eleven days receiving treatment for a series of problems, including dehydration, fever and shoulder dislocation injury for which she even underwent a surgery.

 

Initially, she was admitted to the Army Research and Referral Hospital.
