New Delhi: The CPI has condemned Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar's "to neutralise terrorist through terrorist only" remarks and expressed concern over it.
The party said this during its two-day National Executive meeting held here between May 22 and May 23.
"The meeting expressed its serious concern over Defence Minister Manohar Parrikars statement that terrorism would be met with terrorism and condemned it, CPI National Council Secretary and media co-ordinator Shameem Faizee said in a statement.
"The party terms the outburst as a clever move and signal for the re-emergence of Salwa Judum like government-backed machinery set up by the then Chhattisgarh in the name of fighting the menace of Naxalism," he alleged.
Salwa Judum, meaning 'Peace March' locally, was a militia mobilised to combat Naxalism in Chhattisgarh and allegedly had state government's support.
The Supreme Court had in 2011 declared it unconstitutional following a public interest litigation in this regard.
Asserting that terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists, Parka had recently said that India will take "pro-active" steps to prevent a 26/11 type attacks hatched from foreign soil.
The Minister had used a Hindi phrase "kante se kanta nikalna" (removing a thorn with a thorn) and wondered why Indian soldiers should be used to neutralise terrorists.
Meanwhile, the CPI, during its first national executive meeting after its 22nd party Congress held in March, has decided to continue with the agitation against Centre's Land Acquisition bill.
Terming BJP-led NDA government's performance during one-year as "anti-poor" and "pro-corporate", the party accused the Narendra Modi dispensation of being a "combination of right-wing ideology dictated by domestic and international finance capital."
"The BJP-led government while giving concessions to the corporates is heaping more burdens on the masses," Faizee alleged.
The CPI also said that it will hold agitations against price rise which the government, the party claimed, has failed to curb.
It also plans to take up issues like "drastic cut" in funds for healthcare programme, education and other pro-people schemes.
