Chandrapur: Creating health facilities in country is one of the priorities of the NDA government at Centre, Union minister of state for chemicals and fertilisers Hansraj Ahir said here on Sunday.

He also expressed confidence that a government medical college would start here by this year's academic session.

"Issues regarding deficiencies pointed out earlier by the Medical Council of India (MCI) have been resolved, paving the way for sanctioning of new medical college," the minister said.

He said the demand for the medical college has been pending for long and "the conditions appear favourable this time as the Pre-Medical Test (PMT) entrance exam has been postponed for about a month and starting of new medical college could be an advantage for the people of this district and the candidates seeking admissions to medical colleges, as well."

He said Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has also assured to look into the issue and direct MCI accordingly.
