Pakistan rejects claim that underworld don Dawood Ibrahim lives in country, says don't know where he is

New Delhi: Notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim who is wanted in several terrorism cases in India does not live in Pakistan, Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit said on Saturday.

“Don’t know where is he, please don't expect someone who is not in Pakistan to be handed over to you,” Basit told reporters when about about his whereabouts in that country.

Basit's remarks come a day after India accused the neighbouring country of doing too little to nab those involved in terrorists attacks in the country.

On Friday, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj had said the role of Pakistani nationals in the Pathankot airbase attack "is an accepted fact".

Also, Islamabad is yet to clear a request from India's premier investigation agency NIA to visit Pakistan as part of its probe into the Pathankot attack.

Dawood has been in the news recently after a hacker claimed that the gangster have been allegedly in touch with a politician from Maharashtra.

He claimed that he managed to check Dawood's call log after snooping into a Pakistani telecom firm and found BJP politician Eknath Khadse's number.

The party however rejected the claims as unreal.

A media report recently claimed that Karachi police officers were heard admitting on tape that 'Dawood stays in Clifton' area of Karachi.

The officers were caught on tape, which was aired by CNN-News18, saying how the mafia don was surrounded by his own security men.

They are also heard saying how Dawood moves around in the neighbourhood in Clifton.
