Pulwama: At least 18 policemen were injured in two grenade attacks in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on Wednesday.

Reportedly, militants hurled a grenade, followed by firing, at security personnel who were on duty near the Degree College in Pulwama town.

A Dy SP was also injured in the attack.

The area was immediately cordoned off and an operation was launched to track down the assailants.

Earlier, in the day, Home Minister Rajnath Singh paid a visit to Srinagar amid heightened security and strict curfew almost all over the Kashmir Valley.

Also, an 18-year-old boy was killed in firing by security forces in a south Kashmir village on Wednesday.

A police officer said Amir Gul Mir was killed after he sustained pellet injuries in a clash between protesters and security forces in Pinglina village of Pulwama, some 30 km south of Srinagar.

The teenager was removed to a hospital where he succumbed, the officer said.

With Mir's death, the toll in the ongoing Kashmir unrest has risen to 69 - including two policemen.
