New Delhi: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi missed Nitish Kumar's mega swearing in ceremony at Patna's Gandhi Maidan on Friday due a flight delay.

His Congress party had received a major boost in the recently held Bihar elections as it won 27 of the 41 seats it contested.

"Flight delayed by more than an hour due to air traffic control & related issues. Just landed in Patna! On my way to Gandhi Maidan now," the 45-year-old leader tweeted, an hour after Nitish and his ministers took oaths.

The staggered election to the 243-seat assembly started on October 12 and concluded on November 5. The counting of votes took place on Nov 8.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and RJD leader Lalu Prasad trounced the BJP to win the bitterly fought Bihar assembly polls and deliver a major blow to Prime Minister Narendra Modi who led his party’s challenge.
