Hafiz Saeed wants Nawaz Sharif to raise Kashmir issue at UNSC

Lahore: Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief Hafiz Saeed Friday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking direction to the Nawaz Sharif government to take up Kashmir issue at UN Security Council.

Filed through his counsel A K Dogar, Saeed in his petition said the PML-N government is practically doing nothing to take up the matter of Indian 'atrocities' in Kashmir at different international forums except issuing statements.

He said the Indian claim to Kashmir is based on 'very controversial and forced accession' to India made by Maharaja Hari Singh on October 26, 1947 when he was fleeing from his capital Srinagar.

He said accession of Jammu and Kashmir by both India and Pakistan should be decided through the democratic method of free and impartial plebiscite to promote international peace and security.

Saeed requested the LHC to give direction to the federal government under Article 9 of the Constitution for enforcement of fundamental right to live with peace and security without fear of another war with India, to take immediate steps and impress upon the UN Security Council to appoint Plebiscite Administration to take measures to implement the UN Security Council's resolution (1948) subsisting till that date.

Besides the government should press upon the UN Security Council to fix a fresh date for holding plebiscite in Kashmir.
