New Delhi: Asserting that India wants to see a peaceful conclusion to Nepal`s on-going transition, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has urged the Himalayan nation to address the political unrest in the country in a "credibly" and "effectively" manner.
Speaking on the state of the Indo-Nepal Relations in the Rajya Sabha today, Swaraj said that India wants to see a peaceful, united and stable Nepal.She also said India will continue to encourage all sides to come to a solution sooner than later.
On Wednesday, India had urged Nepal to find an "urgent" solution to political problems in the Himalayan nation and clarified that there is no hindrance to supplies from Indian side.
Since the promulgation of the Constitution in Nepal in September, Indian-origin Madhesi population has been agitating as they believe the country`s new Constitution discriminates against them, denying them equal standing with other Nepalis.
The agitation obstructed supply of essential commodities, including petrol, thereby creating a crisis in Nepal, which accused India of imposing an economic blockade.
