New Delhi: The Indian Army is conducting a major exercise in the Rajasthan desert near Pokharan city to test its capability of Striking deep into enemy territory in an integrated air-land battle mode.

About 30,000 soldiers are partcipating in exercise Shatrujeet, a defence ministry statement said.

“The operationally oriented exercise is focusing on validating integrated theatre battle fighting concept incorporating new age technologies, weapon platforms and systems as well as long range precision targeting vectors,” the statement said.

“The Indian Army undertakes such exercises at regular intervals at different levels to ensure the forces are provided real war-like situations and are kept in a high state of battle readiness,” it added.
