Bengaluru: Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday applauded Indian Muslims for playing the biggest role in stopping the influence of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIS) in India and asserted that they are not attracted to the militant outfit's ideologies.

"If any community is playing a very important role in stopping their children to get attracted to ISIS activities in India, it is the families who follow Islam. I am very proud to tell this," Singh said addressing the 'Adamya Chetana Seva Utsav 2015-16' here.

"The families who follow Islam are able to stop their children getting hoodwinked by ISIS ideology, it is because of their strong family values," he said.

In comparison, the terror group's activities are on the surge in other countries, but it is not so in India, Singh said, adding the security in the country has been strengthened and people are feeling it.

The Central government is making efforts to provide security to its people, and it is necessary for the country to protect their people from Maoism, terrorism and fundamentalist activities, Singh said.

"The citizens of the country should be protected from Maoism, terrorism and fundamentalist activities, and the government is working towards it so that the citizens feel safe and secure," he said.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka Governor Vaju Bhai Vala gave a call to people to stand up to the challenge of terrorism and give fitting reply to its perpetrators.

"If the people do not stand up to the challenge of terrorism and give them a fitting reply, the technological advancement or good education will come to naught if they are victims of such violence," he said.

Adamya Chetana is a voluntary organisation working in the field of social development run by Union Minister Ananth Kumar and his wife Tejaswini.
