Indian-origin man rescued from a commercial ship in Oman

A seriously injured Indian national on board a commercial ship has been rescued by a Omani air force helicopter and flown to a hospital in Muscat.

Dubai: A seriously injured Indian national on board a commercial ship has been rescued by a Omani air force helicopter and flown to a hospital in Muscat.

The man had sustained severe injuries on board a commercial ship while crossing the Omani territorial waters, 140 nautical miles off the shores of Muscat, Times of Oman reported.

A helicopter of the Royal Oman Air Force was involved in the rescue operation and the injured man was evacuated to the Khoula Hospital for treatment.

It was not clear from the report as to how the person sustained injuries.

There are some 700,000 Indians living in Oman, forming the largest expatriate group in the country.
