Haridwar: Special arrangements have been made for the Kawadias after the Kawad Yatra began in Haridwar yesterday.
On July 30, the Northern Railway announced that it would run three special trains for Kawad Yatra.
Two trains would run daily from Delhi to Haridwar via Shamli, while another special train would run daily via Hapur from August 1 to August 12.Authorities in Muzaffarnagar increased the security for the annual Kawad Yatra on 29th July, in the wake of the terrorist attack in Gurdaspur.
The route of Kawad Yatra has been divided into 16 zones and 81 sectors.
It has been increased from the earlier 75 sectors.Kawadias are Lord Shiva devotees who gather at Haridwar every year to take a dip and collect water of river Ganga to offer to Lord Shiva.
The devotees will pay obeisance at various Shiva temples on August 12.
