Left Front partners unhappy over Congress putting up own candidates

Kolkata: Miffed with Congress for putting up its own candidates in seats where the Left Front has decided to contest, Forward Bloc and RSP today said they will raise the issue in the LF meeting.

We would question the CPI-M over the justification of the alliance if the two partners engage in 'friendly' contest or whatever, the parties said.

"We will raise the issue in the Left Front meeting.....We have made sacrifices for the sake of the alliance. We have sacrificed a few seats," RSP state secretary Khsiti Goswami told PTI.

Another Left Front ally Forward Bloc too is unhappy with the Congress's decision to field own candidates.

"It seems that some parties have decided to ignore the feelings of the people. Those who are calling for friendly fights seem to be ignorant towards the rules of alliance or seat adjustment," Forward Bloc leader Hafiz Alam Sairani said.

The constituencies like Malatipur, Gajole and Harishchandrapur in Malda, Murshidabad, Raninagar, Naoda and Domkal in Murshidabad, Joypur in Purulia, and Kalchini in Jalpaguri might see 'friendly fights'.

The Congress yesterday announced the names of 75 constituencies from which it will fight according to an initial seat-sharing arrangement with the Left Front.
