New Delhi: Union Ministers Venkaiah Naidu and Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday laid the foundation stone for a national memorial dedicated to country's former President APJ Abdul Kalam in Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu, marking the first death anniversary of the 'missile man'.
According to news agency ANI, besides unveiling his life-size statue, the two union ministers also released a 3D model of the memorial.
An exhibition named "Mission of Life" depicting the life of Dr Kalam and his achievements towards nation building was also inaugurated.
The two leaders earlier paid tributes to Dr APJ Abdul Kalam in Rameswaram on his first death anniversary.
The Urban Development, Information & Broadcasting Ministry and the Defence Ministry had planned a series of events to mark the occasion.
Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu also tweeted a picture of the Kalam memorial on Twitter.
