New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday expressed solidarity with Congress President Sonia Gandhi saying it makes her "sad" and "feel bad" that she was asked to appear in court.

"Sad that Sonia was asked to appear in court. Persons who have been in politics for such a long time, it is not good that they appear in court. I feel bad about it," she told reporters here.

"However, it is court's decision and I will not comment about it," Banerjee, who is in the capital said when asked about the Delhi High Court decision to dismiss her pleas for quashing of summons to her in the National Herald and for exemption from personal appearance.

The Trinamool Congress chief said time permitting she would meet Gandhi tomorrow on her birth day.
