Naval ships have sprung into action to transport hundreds of passengers stranded at Port Blair and Hut Bay due to 'adverse' weather condition.

Officials of the Andaman and Nicobar Command said 372 passengers stranded at Hut Bay were transported by naval ships to Port Blair in the early hours of on Sunday.

The ANC had deployed three ships for this.

Yesterday 439 passengers stranded at Port Blair were transported to Hut Bay.

Officials said the naval ships were pressed into service because the normal shipping services between Port Blair and Hut Bay remained suspended on May 21 and 22 due to 'adverse' weather condition, resulting in a large number of passengers being stranded at both ends.
