No 'Jungle Raj', only 'Kanun Raj' in Bihar: Nitish Kumar

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has strongly opposed the portrayal of Bihar as a lawless state.

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has strongly opposed the portrayal of Bihar as a lawless state.

Speaking at an event organised by a private news broadcaster, Kumar said the talk of lawlessness in Bihar was only a propaganda pushed by those who want to keep the focus of the upcoming assembly elections away from the issue of development.

“Jungle raj is a prachar, there's only kanun raj in Bihar,” he said, adding that the crime rate in his state was far less than many other states in the country.

On his alliance with RJD's Lalu Prasad Yadav – whose rule as CM was widely criticised as the darkest period in Bihar's history - Nitish Kumar said, “I am the Chief Minister and I have the support of RJD and Congress....does anybody feels that the situation where people used to go out for work after dusk has changed in the last 6 months.”

“Jungle Raj can never be a reality in Bihar,” he stressed.

Elaborating further on his tie-up with Lalu Yadav, he said, “If one was to look at the background then we were all in Janatal Dal...this is an tactical alliance.”
