Srinagar: The captured Pakistan terrorist, identified as Usman alias Mohammad Naved, could have inflicted more harm to the Indian side, had it not been for the courage of three villagers who were taken hostage by him in Udhampur.

According to reports, the three villagers were taken hostage by Naved after he attacked a BSF convoy in Udhampur and killed two Indian troops on Wednesday.

Naved then threatened the three hostages to show him the way to a safer place where he can hide.

“Keeping me on his gun point, he asked me to take him to a place where nobody could see him. However, instead of following his order, we misled him,” Rakesh Kumar, one of the three villagers, was quoted as saying by reports.

Later, they all stopped for food as Naved was feeling hungry. Taking advantage of the situation, the three hostages overpowered Naved, forced him to ground and snatched his arms.

“Seeing the police arriving, he threatened us to let him loose. But, we kept holding him with his neck and grabbed his gun. He told us he would not harm us so long as we showed him the way to escape out. But we decided to catch him,” Vikramjit, another hostage revealed.

Naved, who says he hails from Faislabad in Pakistan, claimed before the media that he entered the Jammu region 12 days ago along with a fellow terrorist identified as Momin Khan. Khan was killed in retaliatory fire by BSF.

This is the first suspected Pakistani terrorist to be captured alive after Ajmal Kasab, who was nabbed during the dreaded terror attack in Mumbai in 2008.
