New Delhi/Islamabad: It seems that Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's quick action over India's evidence in connecting with the Punjab's Pathankot airbase attack has really agitated their former president General (retired) and Kargil plotter Pervez Musharraf.
In an interview given to a Pakistani channel AAJ TV, Musharraf not only said that “India is over-reacting on Pathankot attack case” but also added that “such kind of attacks will continue to happen in future.”
"Terrorism is prevalent in both India and Pakistan. We are also victims of the same so we should not over react to what happened in Pathankot. Yes, of course we want to control such incidents, but one should get hyper over such incidents," he said.
Although Pakistan has yesterday hinted that the foreign-secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan may be defered, Musharraf said during the interview, “India can not threaten us by putting conditions ahead of such interactive sessions.”
Accusing New Delhi of creating pressure on Islamabad when it came to terror attacks, the former President alleged that terrorism and extremism was quite prevalent in India as well.
"India simply can't create pressure on Pakistan when it comes to terrorism. We may be a small country but we have honour of our own. There are lots of areas in India where extremism is rampant. India always treats terrorism as a one-sided issue and that infuriates me. They can't just bulldoze us when something happens there," Musharraf said.
Further hitting out at Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the former Pak Prez said, “Indian PM may be a 'bold man' but he should keep his boldness withing his country.”
"India's first reaction to every terrorist attack is Pakistan but India is not free of terrorism or extremism themselves," he added.
He also said that there was a lot of 'disgruntlement' among the Muslim community in India since Prime Minister Modi came to power.
Comparing the Prime Minister's leadership with that of his former counterpart Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he added that ties between India and Pakistan had flourished under the latter as he was more 'sincere' in his approach.
"I interacted with Vajpayee sahab and at the time we had very good ties with India. It all comes down to leadership in the end. We were moving forward with him and Manmohan sahab. Unfortunately, it's not working under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi. His popularity has dampened post his loss in Delhi and Bihar," Musharraf said.
Pak PM Nawaz Sharif had yesterday ordered formation of a high-profile joint investigation team (JIT) to investigate the links of the Pathankot air base attackers with Pakistan.
This development comes on the heels of the Pathankot airforce base attack, where six suspected Pakistani militants targeted the area, resulting in the deaths of seven Indian soldiers.
