Peace accord a 'big boost' to North-East, says Congress' Ninong Ering

Congress MP Ninong Ering on Monday hailed the signing of the peace accord between the Government of India and the NSCN, saying it is a 'big boost' for the people of Northeast.

New Delhi: Congress MP Ninong Ering on Monday hailed the signing of the peace accord between the Government of India and the NSCN, saying it is a 'big boost' for the people of Northeast.

"This is really historic and it has happened after six decades. This is a big achievement for all of us...After this accord, I think, the peace will prevail. This is a big boost for the people of North-east. Let us hope that the peace prevails and new era begins," Ering told ANI.

Government's Interlocutor for Naga Peace Talks, RN Ravi, signed the Agreement on behalf of the Government of India today while Isak Chishi Swu, Chairman and Th. Muivah, General Secretary were the signatories on behalf of the NSCN.

This agreement will end the oldest insurgency in the country.
