New Delhi: Pleasant weather prevailed in several parts of north India as mercury hovered around normal levels.
Delhi continued to experience pleasant weather as maximum and minimum temperatures hovered close to the normal level while the sky remained clear, MeT department said.
The maximum temperature of the day was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, while the minimum temperature at 11.1 degrees Celsius was a notch below normal.
Yesterday, the maximum and minimum temperatures settled at 27.6 and 14.5 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Humidity in the air oscillated between 29 and 73 per cent.
With a clear overnight sky, minimum temperatures dropped across most places in Kashmir even as the weatherman predicted rain and snow in some parts of the Valley from tomorrow.
"A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect from February 28 onwards. There are chances of rains or snowfall at few places over the state," a Meteorological department spokesperson said.
Owing to the clear skies during the night, the minimum temperatures across the division, including Ladakh region, dropped with Gulmarg in north Kashmir continuing to be the coldest recorded place, the spokesperson said.
Gulmarg recorded a low of minus 9 degrees Celsius, a notch down from yesterday's minus 8 degrees Celsius, while Pahalgam in south Kashmir, received fresh snowfall of 3 cm and mercury settled at a low of minus 1.7 degree Celsius, he said.
Srinagar registered a minimum temperature of 0.6 degrees Celsius, while in Kupwara it was minus 1.4 degrees Celsius, Qazigund minus 0.8, and Kokernag minus 0.6 degrees Celsius.
Leh, in Ladakh region, recorded a minimum temperature of minus 5.2 degrees Celsius and nearby Kargil town registered a low of minus 8.8 degrees Celsius, he said.
The minimum temperature in many places in Punjab and Haryana today settled several notches below the normal level with mercury recording less than 10 degrees Celsius at most places in the region.
Hisar in Haryana recorded the lowest temperature of 6.7 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal, a MeT department report said.
Karnal and Narnaul recorded minimum of 7 and 6.8 degrees Celsius, while at Ambala and Bhiwani it settled at 11.9 and 9 degrees Celsius.
The Union territory Chandigarh recorded a low of 9.2 degrees Celsius, a degree below normal.
In Punjab, Ludhiana registered a low of 7 degrees Celsius, while Amritsar and Patiala registered 9.4 and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively, the MeT said.
