PM Modi can continue sharing 'Mann ki baat', EC rejects plea seeking ban

New Delhi: The Election Commission on Friday rejected a plea by the Congress and JD(U) seeking a ban on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 'Mann ki baat'' radio programme ahead of assembly polls in Bihar.

As per reports, the EC has ruled out a 'blanket ban' but has also mandated that the programme should not be used to campaign for Bihar polls.

The Congress and the JD(U), part of the 'Mahagathbandan' in Bihar had alleged that 'Mann ki baat' "violates" the Model Code of Conduct in force due to Bihar assembly polls.

'Mann ki baat' is a regular radio broadcast in which Modi shares his thoughts on issues, its next episode will be aired on Sunday.

Interestingly, a similar complaint was made by Congress against the programme during the Haryana assembly polls but the EC had not found anything "objectionable".
