Allahabad: As the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) gears up for crucial Assembly Elections next year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid out a seven-point code of conduct for party leaders and workers.

Modi listed the seven-point code in his address to the BJP national executive here on Monday, in what was described as an emotional speech.

“The country needs to be strengthened. People are not happy with mere slogans, their concern is about the country being strengthened,” PM Modi was quoted as saying at the meeting, as per The Indian Express.

The PM's remarks came even as the party declared in a resolution, “For the BJP, every election, from panchayat to Parliament, is an important one to expand its electoral and ideological influence.”

So, what are those seven points of the code of conduct for BJP leaders and workers; according to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, they are:

  1. Sevabhav (service)
  2. Santulan (balance)
  3. Saiyam (restraint)
  4. Samanvaya (coordination)
  5. Sakaratmak (constructive)
  6. Ssamvedana (sensitivity)
  7. Samvad (dialogue)

“These (points which must be kept in mind by party leaders and workers in their daily dealings and behaviour) should reflect in your behaviour and policies,” PM Modi said, as per the report.

“To us, power is not happiness but responsibility. Every bit of us should be devoted to fulfil this responsibility,” he said, adding, “I have pledged to devote every bit of myself and every moment of my life to this nation.”
