Sena editorial: Ajmer dargah diwan warns against unnecessary comments

Jaipur: Against the backdrop of Shiv Sena and AIMIM locking horns over the issue of Muslims' voting rights, the spiritual head of historic Ajmer shrine has asked the political parties to refrain from making "uncalled for statements" in the larger interest of the nation.

"Such uncalled for statements and controversies only push the nation back. They send adverse message to our young generation which in itself is a great setback to the country," the Dargah Diwan, Zainul Abedin Ali Khan told PTI today.

He said that the statement of Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut?in the party's mouthpiece 'Saamna' that Muslims' voting rights should be revoked to put an end to vote bank politics was upsetting.

"I want all political parties to think and act above the lines of religion, caste, and creed. I urge the heads of all parties to ask their leaders to refrain from making such statements which may hit the interest of the nation," Khan added.

Khan said that not only Raut, but AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and other leaders too should also make decent statements.

"The country needs constructive things and not the ones which divide. Today?s generation talks about development, advancement, and empowerment. And by making controversies based on religion, the leaders are doing nothing but playing with the future of the nation," he said.
