Sunanda murder probe: Delhi Police to question Mehr Tarar soon

Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said on Friday that soon they will get in touch with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar and question her in connection with the death case of Sunanda Pushkar.

New Delhi: Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi said on Friday that soon they will get in touch with Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar and question her in connection with the death case of Sunanda Pushkar.

“Will get in touch with her (Tarar), see what needs to be done, will tell you when it happens,” Bassi told reporters here.

The development comes a day after Bassi had said that they will try to gather information from Tarar as she is a relevant person who may throw some light on the said case.

Before her death, Sunanda had publicly accused Tharoor of having an affair with Tarar.

So far, Sunanda's son Shiv Menon, former Union minister Shashi Tharoor and senior journalist Nalini Singh have been interrogated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) in connection with this case.

Sunanda was found dead in the five-star Leela Hotel in Delhi on January 17, 2014. She was married to Tharoor for a little less than four years. It was the third marriage for both.

Sunanda's death was initially debated as a possible suicide for months, but a murder theory began to be considered seriously after doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) maintained that her demise was unnatural.
