New Delhi: The Indian Army is awaiting a decision from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to release the video footage of the surgical strikes conducted on September 28 night along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to The Economic Times, the Army has given a green signal to the government to use the video footage of the surgical strikes to quash Pakistan’s claims that the strikes never took place.
The proof is also likely to end the political slugfest involving the Congress, the BJP, and the Aam Aadmi Party.
According to reports, the Army has enough proof, like video footage, photographs shot by both ground troops and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), to show the cross-border strikes were highly effective.
“There is no doubt at all that the strikes inflicted heavy damage. The proof is available with the government that clearly shows our troops engaging the targets effectively,” the ET quoted a senior government official as saying.
Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam yesterday sparked a row by dubbing the Army operation as "fake" and accused the BJP of making political capital out of it. The Congress distanced itself from Nirupam's remarks.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has also asked the PM to give a "befitting reply" to Islamabad's claims that no such operation took place.
India said it carried out the operation and destroyed terrorist launch pads following the September 18 attack by terrorists on an Army camp which killed 19 soldiers at Uri in Jammu and Kashmir.
