Lucknow: Eight coaches of the Delhi-Faizabad 14206 Padmavat Express were derailed on Sunday night.

This morning, clearing of the tracks began.

Meanwhile, around 40 trains running on the Delhi-Moradabad route have been diverted following the incident, while nine passenger trains and four mail express trains were cancelled, an official said.

The Northern Railway said today that two of the coaches of the 14206 Delhi-Faizabad Padmavat Express which derailed on Sunday night have been righted and the track is expected to be repaired by 4 pm.

CPIO (Central Public Information Officer) of Northern Railways Neeraj Sharma told news agency IANS that around 40 trains running on the route were diverted while nine passenger trains and four mail express were cancelled.

"We have alternative route available. The diverted trains are running via Delhi to Meerut/Aligarh route," Sharma told IANS.

The train had derailed between Kakather and Gadhmukteshwar in Hapur last night.

The derailed coaches included two sleeper, four air-conditioned coaches, guard, and seating and luggage rake (SLR) coach, a railway official informed IANS.

Following the derailment, traffic hit the busy rail route. On Monday, workers were trying to clear the track at the earliest, officials added.

More than 100 passengers have suffered minor injuries in the accident.

The train also decoupled soon after the derailment and the engine along with 11 coaches went ahead while the eight bogies that were derailed were dragged for a few hundred metres and then slipped off the track and turtled.

The speed of the train was 90kmph when the accident took place.
