Uri attack: PM Modi chairs cabinet meet; is India ready with its Pak response?

New Delhi: The Union Cabinet met under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi amid indications that the top leadership is all set to finalise India's response to Pakistan over the Uri terror attack in which 18 Army soldiers were killed.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley were among the ministers who attended the meeting.

Following the Union Cabinet meet, the Cabinet Committee on Security held a meeting to review the situation arising out of the attack.

Importantly, Ms Swaraj is scheduled to head for the United Nations where India will press for isolation of `terror sponsor` Pakistan in the international community.

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is also in New York to put forth his country's stand on the issue.

However, in a huge embarrassment for Pakistan, a Bill has been moved in the US House of Representatives to designate Pakistan as a state sponsor of terror.
