New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has hit out at the Congress for questioning Modi government's move to scrap Rs 500/100 notes to end the menace of black money.
“Government took a lot of measures when it came to power to curb black money, tax evasion, and corruption. The government has also taken steps to provide financial inclusion and social security to the people, the government brought transparency,” Union Minister Venkaiah Naidu said.
Highlighting the benefits of the scheme to exchange old high value notes with new ones, he said, “Apart from corruption; this will bring down inflation, will diminish parallel economy and huge setback for arms dealers.”
Questioning the Congress party, Naidu said, “Want to ask Congress why doubt the policy and create confusion, why this 'kintu-parantu'? This will do them no good.”
The Union Minister added that it is a pro-poor step. “It's a huge step towards making India a cashless economy,” Naidu said.
Meanwhile, the RBI announced that all banks will remain open for public on Saturday, November 12 and Sunday, November 13, 2016.
