New Delhi: Google is gradually adding a flurry of updates to its much-loved app, Google Maps, such as Wifi-only mode and notifications for mass transit delays.

To enjoy the advantage of the brand new features, all you need is an Android operating system and Maps v9.32 installed on your smartphone. However, the new features are being released as "staged rollouts" and can take some time before it is available for everyone, according to Android Police.

The new Wi-fi only mode can be enabled from the setting option in the app and as the name suggest, the feature will limit your cellular data usage. If a user enables Wi-Fi only mode for the first time, it will show a quick reminder that Google Maps may still use a 'small amount of data'.

Along with this, the search engine giant has introduced a notification for mass transit delays. This will be extremely beneficial for commuters who travel via public transport frequently. The feature will update users whenever there is a glitch or delay in operation of public transport services.
