Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir police officer of deputy superintendent rank was suspended for allegedly leaking sensitive information to Pakistani intelligence agencies during the ongoing unrest in the Valley.
J&K DGP K Rajendra Kumar suspended the cop and initiated a probe into the allegations.
The top cop ordered the inquiry after Home Ministry gave inputs of telephonic conversations between DSP Tanveer Ahmad and Pakistani security officials.
However, Ahmad has denied any wrong doing. Giving his side of the story, he said that he received a call from a person, who addressed himself as an Army officer. He wanted him to share the details of the deployment of the security forces in the Valley.
The DSP maintains that he asked the Superintendent of Police before divulging the details.
Kashmir has been witnessing un-ending unrest ever since Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter on July 08.
During the last 97 days of ongoing violence, post Friday prayer protests have been taking place across the valley during which precious human lives are lost in clashes between unruly mobs and the security forces.
At least 91 people have been killed and over 12,000 injured in the over three months unrest which started here on July 9, a day after the killing of top militant Burhan Wani in a gunfight with the security forces.
