Jammu: Police has booked an alleged criminal under the Public Safety Act (PSA) after warrants were issued by the District Magistrate in Jammu and Kashmir's Samba district on Saturday.

Raghubir Singh alias Rinku was wanted in several criminal cases in the Samba and Jammu district, and was arrested a few days ago and a country-made pistol and some sharp-edged weapons were recovered from his possession, a police officer said.

The accused had not just created terror among the citizens, but was also disturbing the peace and tranquility in the area, he said.

"He was also forming a gang of criminals, expanding it and was trying to become a role model for the youth who were interested in indulging in criminal activities and could go to any extent in order to spread their criminal activities, if he was allowed to go scot-free," he said.

He said that police prepared his dossier and got a warrant under Public Safety Act issued from District Magistrate, Samba to prevent Singh from indulging in prejudicial criminal activities.

Singh has been lodged in Sub-district Jail in Hiranagar, he said.
