Jharkhand MLA wants probe into tender for health centres

A legislator from the ruling BJP on Thursday sought to put his own party's government in a spot by demanding a vigilance probe into the finalisation of tender for the construction of seven primary health centres in Palamu region of Jharkhand.

Ranchi: A legislator from the ruling BJP on Thursday sought to put his own party's government in a spot by demanding a vigilance probe into the finalisation of tender for the construction of seven primary health centres in Palamu region of Jharkhand.

Tenders were floated for the construction of seven primary health centres (PHCs), and the construction work was handed over to a particular person though only one tender was filed, Bhartiya Janata Party legislator Satyendra Tiwari told reporters.

He said that as per the law, a tender should be floated again in case only one tender is submitted.

"We will raise the issue with Chief Minister Raghubar Das and demand a vigilance probe. It was done at the behest of the health minister (Ramchandra Chandravansi). If the state government fails to institute a vigilance inquiry, I will file a public interest litigation in court," Tiwari said.

Denying the charge, Chandravansi said, "We will look into the issue. Action will be taken if anything wrong comes to our notice. The legislator wants to become a minister and it is the reason he is raising such issues."
