IAS DK Ravi's death: Karnataka HC bars govt from filing preliminary CID report

Karnataka High Court has barred the Siddaramaiah government from filing preliminary CID report in the investigation of IAS officer DK Ravi's death, reports said on Sunday.

Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court has barred the Siddaramaiah government from filing preliminary CID report in the investigation of IAS officer DK Ravi's death, reports said on Sunday.

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah was to present all the information in the case on the floor of the Assembly on Monday to clear his stand, but was stopped by the High Court from doing so.

Amidst rising clamour from all quarters for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into DK Ravi's death, Siddaramaiah had on Saturday assured that his government would not protect anyone.

“The government will not hide anything... will not protect anyone,” Siddaramaiah said.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi too had written to the Karnataka CM on Friday, asking him to hand over the investigation to the CBI.

Siddaramaiah said he would talk to Ravi's parents once the post-mortem report is out. “Have told the parents of DK Ravi that I will speak to them after his post-mortem report comes in and is examined. We also want the truth to come out, that's what I have promised to the parents,” the CM said.

There has been massive demand for a CBI probe into Ravi's death from Opposition parties and the family of Ravi who was found hanging from a ceiling fan in his flat on Monday.

Stepping up the pressure, BJP and JD(S) MLAs had on Thursday marched in a procession from Vidhana Soudha, the state secretariat, to Raj Bhavan and requested the Governor to advise the Siddaramaiah government to refer the case to CBI.
