Petrol pumps strike in Kerala from midnight

Commuters in Kerala are a worried lot after the All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders announced that nearly 2000 petrol pumps will remain shut indefinite from Monday midnight.

Thiruvananthapuram: Commuters in Kerala are a worried lot after the All Kerala Federation of Petroleum Traders announced that nearly 2000 petrol pumps will remain shut indefinite from Monday midnight.

The federation has called the strike to protest against the oil companies' decision to not renew licence for petrol pumps, reports Malayala Manorama.

The traders allege that Indian Oil authorities have told them that the company will not arrange for all government licences required for the operation of a pump.

Also, they alleged that that sanction for opening of new pumps is being given without following any procedure, thereby affecting their business.
