Bhopal: As water crisis continues to grip various parts of the country, two children on Friday drowned in a well while trying to fetch water for drinking in Sendhwa area in Barwani district in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh has been facing acute shortage of water due to prevailing drought situation in the state.

Few days back, a woman set herself ablaze in Chaukri village of Harda district due to water shortage.

An 11-year-old boy died while fetching water from a well in drought-hit Beed district of Marathwada.

On Tuesday, a 12-year-old girl died due to heat stroke in Beed district, while fetching water from an almost dry handpump.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast an 'above normal' Monsoon in 2016.

Due to poor Monsoon in 2015-16 crop year (July-June), 10 states have declared drought and the Centre has sanctioned relief package of about Rs 10,000 crore to help farmers.
