Kicking row: MP CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan says be sensitive

Mahdele, who holds the portfolio of Animal Husbandry, was caught on camera while purportedly kicking a boy.

Dewas (MP): Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Monday appealed for "sensitivity" towards others amid a raging controversy over his cabinet colleague Kusum Mahdele purportedly kicking a boy who was begging a rupee from her.

"The Minister (Mahdele) has given her clarification on the issue...(we) will see and probe it to clear the situation. Everyone should remain sensitive in such matters," the Chief Minister said.

Mahdele, who holds the portfolio of Animal Husbandry, was caught on camera while purportedly kicking the boy as he bowed to touch her feet at a function yesterday and the footage of the incident went viral on social media.

The purported incident had taken place at a function organised to celebrate Madhya Pradesh Foundation Day near bus stand in Panna district.

Chouhan, Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and state unit BJP president Nandkumar Singh Chouhan arrived here today on the occasion of filing of nomination papers by BJP nominee Gayatri Raje Puar for the bypoll to Dewas Assembly seat.

Gayatri Raje is wife of sitting Dewas MLA Tukojirao Puar whose death necessitated the bye-election.

Responding to a query on the suicides by farmers due to drought-like condition in large parts of the state, Chouhan said his government was trying its best to help the farmers in distress and has convened a day-long special session of the Legislative Assembly on November 5 to provide enhanced relief to the affected people.
