Mumbai: The new taxi, auto fares have come into effect from Tuesday midnight after the Bombay High Court yesterday allowed the Magarashtra government to hike fares in Mumbai.

The minimum auto fare for autos has now increased from Rs 15 to Rs 17, while the minimum taxi fair has now gone up from Rs 19 to Rs 21.

The court also disposed off a petition challenging the fare hike.

The fare hike was proposed by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Transport Authority (MMRTA).

The Mumbai Taximen`s Union had earlier filed a petition to increase fare prices in the city.
