Mumbai: Former media baron Peter Mukerjea was recently subjected to lie detector test in the Sheena Bora murder case.
As per a report in Indian Express, the CBI mostly asked Peter questions which were personal and only some questions were related to money matters.
The report quoted sources as saying that only a few questions were on the INX News Pvt Ltd sale deal and if Peter or his wife Indrani opened any overseas account/s in Sheena’s name.
He was also asked if they had parked their ‘ill-gotten’ gains in her account/s. The report said that most questions tried to gather information on Peter’s possible role in the conspiracy to murder Indrani's daughter from a previous marriage, Sheena.
Some of the questions quoted in the report are as follows:
“Did you and Indrani hatch the plot to kill Sheena?”
“Were you told about the murder after it was committed?”
“Did you lie to Rahul that Sheena was alive?”
Peter was questioned at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in New Delhi.
Some of the questions were apparently personal in nature, like, “if Peter was aware whether Indrani was still in touch with her former husbands”, “if he still trusted his wife” and “whether their relationship had soured in the last few years”.
Meanwhile, a court here today remanded Peter in judicial custody till December 14, ending his 11-day CBI custody after his arrest on November 19.
After the proceedings in the court, Peter was taken to the high-security Arthur Road Jail here, where other two accused in the case - Sanjeev Khanna and Shyamvar Rai - are also lodged, as per PTI.
Sheena (24), Indrani's daughter from an earlier relationship, was allegedly strangled in a car and then her body burnt and dumped in a forest in Raigad, about 84 kms from Mumbai.
Indrani (43), her former husband Sanjeev Khanna and her ex-driver Shyamvar Rai have been chargesheeted in the case.
Indrani is lodged in Byculla prison.
CBI, while maintaining that financial transaction was the motive behind the murder of Sheena, had earlier said that Peter, during his interrogation, disclosed investments of crores of rupees made by him and Indrani.
Meanwhile, CBI sources said that the Interpol information of the Hong Kong and Singapore bank accounts opened by Indrani has not yet been received.
The sleuths also said that they are awaiting the report of polygraph test conducted on Peter.
