Pune: A 60-year-old woman was allegedly raped and murdered by her son on Thursday night in Wakad in Pune.
The woman, Malan Jadhav, was reportedly killed by her 38-year-old son, Sandeep, who was under the influence of liquor at the time of the incident.
As per a report in Mid Day, Sandeep Jadhav has been arrested by the police and charged under sections 376 (rape) and 302 (murder) of the IPC.
The matter is said to have come to light when the woman's elder son, Pravin Jadhav, 43, found his mother lying motionless on reaching home and called a doctor.
The doctor apparently told him that his mother might have been raped, following which he approached the police.
The Daily quoted Inspector Ajay Bhosale of Wakad police station saying that that the accused verbally abused, beat and then raped his mother.
Pravin, a driver, stays with his wife in another house, near his mother’s house.
Investigation has revealed that Sandeep had demanded sex from his mother in the past but she had threatened to approach the police.
Inspector NJ Shaikh, in-charge of Wakad police station, however, said that no such complaint had reached them.
The police have said that as of now the way murder was executed was not clear.
As per the police there was no mark of strangulation or any bruises on the woman's body and things may become clear after the post-mortem report.
It is also not clear whether the deceased was murdered first and then raped or the other way round.
The Daily reported that as per the accused, who is unmarried, he murdered his mother first and then raped her.
He used to work for daily wages at construction sites.
