125 officers pass out of First Training Squadron

One hundred and twenty five officers of the 85th Integrated Officer Trainees Course on Friday passed through the portals of the First Training Squadron.

Kochi: One hundred and twenty five officers of the 85th Integrated Officer Trainees Course on Friday passed through the portals of the First Training Squadron.

Rear Admiral MS Pawar, Chief of Staff, Southern Naval Command, who was the Chief Guest, reviewed the passing out parade and awarded trophies to the winners.

The training onboard ships of the Ist Training Squadron commenced on December 23 last year for a duration of 24 weeks, a Navy statement said.

During this period the officers were given extensive instructions and sea experience on General Navigation, Astro Navigation, Communications, Gunnery and Seamanship. They visited various ports on the East and West coast of India and also sailed to Singapore, Thailand and Myanmar.

As part of the course, the officers underwent sail training on board navy`s sail ships Tarangini and Sudarshini.

Addressing the trainees, Rear Admiral Pawar highlighted the importance of effective leadership and team work in facing future challenges.

The coveted Chief of the Naval Staff Trophy and Telescope for the Best All Round Sea Trainee was awarded to Kiran T Anil, while Gaurav Siddharth received the Chief of the Naval Staff Rolling Trophy and Binocular for standing First in overall Order of Merit.

Kailash K Kabbur was awarded the FOC-IN-C East Rolling Trophy for academics, Vikas Narang received the DG ICG Trophy for the best Coast Guard Officer while Nitin Yuvraj Shipekar was adjudged the Best Sportsman.

The officers will now join frontline warships of the Western and Eastern Fleets for further afloat training.
