New Delhi: Senior BJP leader Uma Bharti has once targeted the Congress and former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi over the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

Speaking in the wake of a sting operation in relation to the 1984 massacre, Bharti said it is well known that Rajiv Gandhi was extremely happy after thousands of Sikhs were killed in the riots.

The former PM had even justified the riots, the BJP leader reportedly said.

The sting operation carried out by Cobrapost this week claimed that the government had failed to take action to stop the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.

The sting claim senior Delhi police officers “colluded” with the then government to teach Sikhs a “lesson.”
