New Delhi: The BJP on Monday said that the ban imposed by the Uttar Pradesh government on VHP`s Sankalp Diwas on Ram Temple issue was incorrect.

"We think the ban imposed by the UP government is incorrect," BJP leader Prakash Javadekar was quoted as saying by a news agency. "They should retract it," he added.

Fearing communal tension, Akhilesh Yadav`s government today banned VHP`s proposed `Sankalp Diwas` in Ram Sewak Puram in Ayodhya on October 18. The proposed event was intended to press for a parliamentary legislation on building Ram Temple and to take a resolve for launching an agitation for rebuilding the temple in Ayodhya.

As per reports, the decision to ban `Sankalp Diwas` has been taken taking in view the recommendations of Faizabad district administration.

Meanwhile, more forces are being deployed in sensitive areas to ensure peace and order, as per the police.

Earlier the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP had banned Vishwa Hindu Parishad`s `Chaurasi Kosi Parikrama Yatra` in Ayodhya in the month of August, saying that it could vitiate the communal atmosphere in the state. The yatra was aimed at covering six districts including communally sensitive Faizabad.
