Cancer patients to get confirmed train tickets: Railway Ministry

In a gesture towards cancer patients, Railway Ministry has decided to provide confirmed tickets to them whenever they go for a check-up.

New Delhi, Jan 21: In a gesture towards cancer patients, Railway Ministry has decided to provide confirmed tickets to them whenever they go for a check-up.
The Ministry has issued instructions to all zonal railway offices to provide accommodation in trains to the cancer patients and their attendants travelling on
concessional tickets issued in return for concession certificate.

Railways provide 75 per cent concession in second class, sleeper class, chair car and 3 tier AC and 50 per cent in 2nd AC and 1st AC for cancer patients travelling alone or
with an escort on being called by recognised hospitals for treatment. They can also avail the same facility in their return journey.

The patient must have a certificate in a prescribed form issued by officer-in-charge of the concerned recognised hospital while availing this concession.
