With Lok Sabha elections not far away, Congress is close to preparing its draft manifesto which will come up for finalisation at its next meeting of Manifesto Committee.

New Delhi, Nov 14: With Lok Sabha elections not
far away, Congress is close to preparing its draft manifesto which will come up for finalisation at its next meeting of manifesto committee.
An indication to this effect was given by Chief spokesman
and member of the Committee Veerappa Moily on Friday.

External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee chaired the
meeting which was attended by HRD Minister Arjun Singh and
other members of the committee.

Noted lawyer K T S Tulsi made a presentation on the need
for a tough terror law in the meeting.

"A law tougher than POTA was needed to fight terror," he
told reporters, adding that POTA was not a good law and the
Supreme Court too had pointed it out.

Tulsi also highlighted the need for a central anti-terror
agency for better coordination with the intelligence agencies.

Delhi Minorities Commission Chairman Kamal Farooqi and
social activist Aruna Roy, too, spoke at the Manifesto
Committee meeting.

The Committee is soliciting the opinion of leading
personalities in different fields and stakeholders like the
workers, farmers and others to help frame the manifesto of the
party.
